On September 15th-20th 2023 an online meeting was hosted by the University of the Aegean and partners from the three participant countries (Greece, Italy, Finland). Main aim of the meeting was to train teachers in 3D Design and 3D Modeling. Dr Dora Chatzi Rodopoulou, member of Quantitative Methods Laboratory, from University of the Aegean started the meeting with an introduction to Design and 3D Design. She analyzed the basics principles of form and design and she explained how to understand the basic functions and the perspective step by step.
On the second day of the meeting, Athanasia Kadrefi, Researcher, member of Quantitative Methods Laboratory, from University of the Aegean, proceed with an introduction to TinkerCAD and how to design on it. She described how to add pre-existing shapes, or import your own, how to rotate the workplane to adjust shapes or change views and how to input exact dimensions with the ruler. Additional she described how to create custom shapes to build detailed, intricate models and how to align multiple objects along any axis.
On the third day, Leonidas Maniatis, Researcher, member of Quantitative Methods Laboratory, from University of the Aegean, started with an introduction to Blender software, where the basic principals of this were presented.
Finally, on the last day of the meeting, Leonidas Maniatis proceeded with the presentation of Blender Software II. He presented the Blender program which is a 3D designing program that can be used for many different things, including but not limited to:
- Object 3D designing through placement and editing.
- Object 3D designing through coding in Python.
- Synthesis of various 3D objects (from external files).
- 3D animations.
- Image to 3D object conversion (for example for logos).
- 3D file conversion to different types of files (usually to a 3D printable .stl file)
